Our house
We are an Umbanda temple in Melbourne dedicated to ancestry, Afro-Brazilian spirituality and community life.
We preserve and share Afro-Brazilian traditions and the worship of the Orixás in Australia, keeping their knowledge, practices and foundations alive - with responsibility, respect and commitment to the roots that sustain us.

Nature is the sacred whole we worship. In it, we recognise the presence and power of the Orixás, expressed through its elements, phenomena and movements.

We honour our blood and spiritual ancestry and the legacy of those who came before us. Everything we are carries this inheritance, which we are also responsible for passing on.

Ori is the sacred principle of consciousness, identity and destiny. A divine and singular presence, Ori guides each person on their journey and, in our foundation, is the first Orixá to be greeted and recognised above all.
Why do we exist?
Our mission is to preserve, practise and share Umbanda and Afro-Brazilian spiritual and cultural traditions in Australia, creating a welcoming community where people can connect with spirituality, ancestry, culture and one another.
We fulfil this mission through religious gatherings and ceremonies, spiritual and cultural education, community activities, the preservation and transmission of Afro-Brazilian traditions and knowledge, and initiatives that support and strengthen our wider community.
Our mission in practice
Our work grows alongside our community. It brings together activities already established in the life of the Casa and initiatives we are progressively developing as our partnerships and resources grow.
Giras, ceremonies and celebrations with prayer, sacred songs, Orixás, spiritual guides, teachings and guidance, lived as part of the tradition and community life of the Casa.
Teachings and preleções on Umbanda, the Orixás, ancestry, spirituality and Afro-Brazilian culture, with new learning formats being progressively developed.
Mobilising and redistributing food and essential goods while developing structured community support initiatives in collaboration with partners.
Celebrations and gatherings already present in community life, alongside talks, workshops and events that we are progressively developing.
Community participation in activities, events, care of the space, collective initiatives and other practical needs of the Casa.
